[ SCALE+] Bangkalan District hides wealthy natural resources not only in marine catches but also in energy resource potential. In Klampis, Sepulu and Tanjungbumi Subdistricts, which are coastal areas, marine resources are a source of income for local communities. Besides, energy resource of oil production operated by Pertamina Hulu Energy West Madura Offshore (PHE WMO) has given an additional regional income. . Knowing that facts, we need to preserve the coastal ecosystem and prevent decrease in physical and chemical ecological quality and decline in number of marine species and coral reefs which are important elements of marine health. This marine resource is a guarantee of life for fishermen now and more needed for our fishermen in the future. Based on this, we purpose to initiate program named SCALE+ (Sea and Coastal Learning) to preserve the marine and coastal ecosystems by involving the participation of young people and local communities and other parties who care about the sea conditions in Bangkalan.
